'Cultures and Institutions of Freedom' is the UCR theme for 2020. Freedom in many senses. For one, as the ultimate goal of a liberal education – freeing the mind through knowledge, broadening experiences, different viewpoints. Freedom, too, as a key issue to reflect upon in the tumultuous times.

Activities at UCR will include a specially themed day during orientation, 'short walks on freedom', guest lectures, special assignments and a Modern United Nations. The theme year will end with the Four Freedoms Awards, and the May month of Freedom in 2021.

One special feature is that activities, where possible, will take place outside - to underline the importance of public space to freedom.

This Moodle site is where resources will be stored and people can share ideas and engage with the theme.
