Earth Science in general and in all its sub disciplines is a very exciting and relevant field. You will discover in this course that phenomena observed on (surface) and in (deep) the earth, are linked to processes of our Earth, that contrary to many other planets, is alive! You will never look at mountains, rivers and oceans in the same way after taking this course. Outdoor activities, including a field assignment, are part of the course. The number of jobs related to earth science in the broadest sense is increasing, also because environmental challenges are increasing.Think of diminishing mineral and water resources and their quality, soil erosion, plastic soup, global warming and the seemingly increased frequency of earth quakes, tsunamis and hurricanes. For this course, high school chemistry and/or physics are recommended, but not required.
